The Anti-Ageing Health & Beauty Show, Special Preview And 'Face Up Beauty' Entry Ticket Offer

Find Out The True Age Of Your Skin - And More

As I write, the countdown clock on the Anti-Ageing Health & Beauty Show website says 4 months, 6 days and 12 hours until showtime (by the time you read this doors opening will be even closer!). With the seconds ticking and the exhibits taking shape I thought you might like to hear about some of the highlights planned for this year’s event.

Want to know the true age of your skin? Fancy sampling new products? Looking for tips on diet and exercise? Or perhaps you're desperate to know more about the safety of cosmetic procedures? Head down to the show at the Olympia Exhibition Centre in London 10-11 May and you can do all of that, plus more.

Visia: measuring skin age and damage
New to the show this year is a skin analysis booth equipped with the latest Visia 6 Complexion Analysis system from Canfield Scientific. The machine evaluates the condition of your skin and assesses the level of any damage such as sun spots. It then compares your skin to that of others your age (not sure I’ll be brave enough to test this one out).

Among the speakers at the show this year is beauty writer and Sky TV presenter Antonia Mariconda. Antonia is the founder of Safety In Beauty, a campaign launched last October which is exposing malpractice in cosmetic and aesthetic procedures in an effort to put further pressure on the government to tighten regulations.

Antonia (left) will be hosting a live Q&A on the main stage at the show, with a panel of expert doctors, nurses, industry professionals (names TBC) giving advice on beauty procedures and treatments, as well as updates on the campaign.

Around 100 examples of malpractice and 20 case studies have been collected as part of the campaign so far. The aim is to reach 365 documents (representing each day of the year) and present them next month to the government’s Keogh Review panel, which is conducting a safety review in the wake of the PiP silicone breast implants scandal.

It is laudable work and rightly gathering industry-wide support from, among others, Dr. Mike Comins, one of the UK’s leading aesthetic doctors, Irwin Mitchell patient lawyers, BACN nurses and more.

The campaign is using the #safetyinbeauty Twitter hashtag as part of its outreach. More info can also be found here.

Elsewhere at the show you’ll find:

- Hairdresser to the stars Nicky Clarke giving makeovers and tips on hair styles to make you look younger

- Flamenco Fit classes running throughout the show

- Speakers including Dr Daniel Sister, a world-renowned specialist and pioneer of the ‘Dracula’ Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy demonstrating live on stage

- Exhibitors including Dr LeWinns, Neal's Yard, Imedeen and Solta Medical, the makers of Fraxel laser who co-developed the ReAura home laser with Philips.
