April’s Empties – And Favourites!

It was another bumper crop last month, though not quite reaching the dizzying heights of February’s empties. I used up 21 full and sample-sized products in April, and this time I’ve emptied as many body as face products, which usually make-up the bulk of my throwaways!

Face

L’Occitane Immortelle Brightening Moisture Cream. A scrumptious radiance-boosting formula with Bellis Perennis extract and a Vitamin C derivative to brighten. £46 for 50ml here.

L’Occitane Divine Cream. Perfection in a bottle! An all-round anti-ageing wonder cream that smells heavenly too. Love it! £74 (ouch!) for 50ml here.

Sunday Riley Good Genes Treatment. A much-lauded product that I hated first time around - I found the smell abhorrent and it brought me out in spots, review. But a second tube proved more fruitful – I didn’t mind the smell and no spots! I still can’t say I’m loving it though!

Su-Man velvet Skin Brightening Serum. This truly does feel velvety on the skin. Contains a blend of antioxidants, hyaluronic and tranexamic acids, omegas, ceramides and dragon's blood extract to brighten and soften. £98 (ouch again!) for 30ml here. Check out my review of the celebrity Su-Man facial here.

SkinPep Hydra Boost*. This is a pure hyaluronic acid serum which I mixed with the brand’s vitamin C powder for added antioxidant potency. A £13.98 sample pack containing both is available here.

Philips ReAura Laser Performance Gel. This tube’s lasted me 3 years! To be frank, though, this isn’t skincare: it’s a facilitating gel to help the laser device glide more smoothly over the skin. Sadly the ReAura is now discontinued  – read my reviews here and here.

T-Zone Shine Control Cleansing Wipes. Cleansing wipes are a skincare staple for me at the gym, though I’m constantly shifting between brands. Read my Gym Kit – 5 Skincare Essentials post here.

Environ AVST 1. This contains the lowest concentration of vitamin A (retinol), C and antioxidants in the brand’s step-up skincare system. It’s my retinol product of choice right now - I’ve just bought the next level up – and I need to review it properly! More on Environ here.

Body

Jo Malone – Pomegranate Noir Cologne. My husband frequently gifts me this. He clearly has good sense in fragrance – though not where his wallet is concerned! £82 (yes ouch!) for 100ml here.

Aromatherapy Associates Revive Body Wash and Balance Lotion Duo. A US hotel freebie. I can’t say this wowed me, surprisingly  – I normally worship everything AA puts out there! I can’t see this available on the brand website, so perhaps it’s no longer available?

Balance Me Super Moisturising Hand Cream. I got this as part of a Telegraph beauty special deal. Superbly rich and exquisitely scented. What’s not to like? £14.50 for 100ml here.

Balance Me Super Toning Body Wash. This had been kicking around in my bathroom a while. An invigorating scent and gentle enough to use daily. I used it in the bath with a body massager to help smooth skin texture.  Fab price - £9 for 200ml here.

Champneys Spa Indulgence Mediterranean Bliss Shimmering Body Oil. Ooh, where to start with the praising?! Check out my post – 2 Outstanding Good Tan Fakers.

Xen-Tan Deep Bronze Luxe. As above, ditto! Another cracker and the other product making up my best tan fakers post (see link above).

Dr. Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Breast Firming Cream. The best bust formula for the price I’ve found yet. £15.99 for 100ml here.

Hair

R+Co Bel Air Shampoo & Conditioner*. If you like your shampoo and condition to exude sharp, zesty, fruity, wake-me-up types of fragrances then I highly recommend these. £22 for the shampoo and £23 the conditioner (both 241ml) - Reviewed.

Boots Sun, Swim & Gym Protection Mask. A water resistant formula designed to help prevent chlorine damage. DON’T ever swim without protecting your hair – I speak from experience! £3.59 for 150ml here.

Aveda Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight. A small sample my hairdresser gave me but a product I buy frequently in full-size. Unlike some products which claim to smooth and progressively straighten your hair, this one actually does! £21.50 for 150ml here.

Dr. Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo. Together with the conditioner, this is my go-to haircare range when I’m on a tight budget. £5.99 for 265ml here.

Make-Up

Kevyn Aucoin, The Essential Mascara. I’m throwing this away as it’s gone dry and clumpy, though I’ve had it a while. Freshly opened this really delivered for me – super lush and thickened lashes. It’s just a pity it didn’t last longer. £26 at Space NK here.
