The Anti-Ageing Health & Beauty Show – Expert Tips on How to Keep Skin Glowing

With so many different brands and formulations to choose from, picking the right anti-ageing products for our skin can be a thoroughly confusing and complex task. Which ingredients should we be looking for and why? Is there anything other than applying topicals that we could be doing to help keep our faces looking radiant and youthful?

Finding myself at the Anti-Ageing Health & Beauty Show at London’s Olympia last weekend, I felt an urge to go pick the brains of some of the beauty gurus attending, and find out their top anti-ageing tips.

Armed with my notepad and pen, I traipsed the aisles of the exhibition hall in search of some big brand experts. Everyone without exception was obliging, not only to impart their wisdom of knowledge but also to have their pictures taken for this post! Result! A massive thank you to all the following for their co-operation.

Jorden Whiffin, Zelens brand ambassador (main pic):

“It’s crucial to look after your skin’s barrier function. I’d recommend getting Omegas into your system. We don’t produce Omega 3 ourselves, and typically we have sourced it from fish oils. We suggest getting it instead [for environmental reasons] from Shiso, a Japanese mint extract. It can be found across our entire skincare and make-up ranges and it has the highest plant concentration of Omega 3.”

Paul Cann, Strivectin UK education manager:

“Look for formulas that tick off the following 5 things: SPF, hydration such as hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, peptides and retinol. “

Jas Sian, marketing executive at brow experts Shavata:

“I’d recommend visiting one of our studios to find the perfect brow shape to lift your eyes. Then have a tint done to complement your hair colour – you should go two shades darker.”

Kristina Aleksijevits, spa specialist at Elemis:

“Cleanse, tone and moisturise twice daily. It’s also important that you find the right products for your skin, so I’d suggest speaking to a fully trained therapist who could advise you on that properly.”

Christine Clarke, of Chistine Clarke Clinic and clinic partner for pHformula, skin resurfacing specialists popular in their native Spain and now launching here in the UK:

“Drink more water, and less alcohol and coffee - you need to keep yourself hydrated.  Rethink your sugar intake - sugar breaks down the collagen fibres in the skin. Eat garlic – it helps to strengthen your immune system, do yoga and most important of all use effective skincare!”
