Brow Buddy by Billion Dollar Brows – It’s Oh So Clever!

The shape of our eyebrows has a dramatic effect on the way we look. Get it right and our faces can ‘wow!’

Here’s a case in point: in her book ‘The Plain Truth About Brows’, Billion Dollar Brows founder Natalie Plain switches the eyebrows of Penelope Cruz and Jessica Alba. Just look at the difference it makes to their faces. Striking!

A particular shape of brow that looks good on one person, will not necessarily look good on another. The secret to a fantastic set of brows is finding a shape that fits the symmetry of our face. Usually that means the one we were born with, tidied up and groomed.

It’s a message that I took away with me from my recent interview with Natalie - as an interesting aside, Natalie is a former White House intern and was a ghostwriter for Bill Clinton and a press assistant to Hillary (impressive woman!).

I’ve been putting into practice Natalie’s tip with the help of the Brow Buddy, one of the BDB products that’s just gone into Boots’ stores nationwide. It’s an ingenious piece of kit that works out your perfect brow shape - full and natural, what BDB refers to as ‘frisky fronts’ – in three easy steps.

Before steaming ahead with the review, I want to say that I’ve been really impressed with the whole launch line-up that I was given to try – so much so that I’ve decided to write a couple of separate posts rather than wrap all products into the one review.

So, onto Brow Buddy. As a teen I plucked away at my thick bushy brows until I was left with just one single row of hairs. It’s a decision I regret to this day – it looked hideous on me even then when it was the fashion!

While mine have grown back, by and large, I have some gaps and it has made me super nervous about letting a pair of tweezers go anywhere near my brows again, resulting in a set of slightly wonky brows too!

I can’t deny that it has taken a lot of nerve and deep breaths to try out Brow Buddy. But fear not, if you are in a similar brow position to me. You can’t go wrong with this tool. It shows you where to start, arch and end your brows. Plus you can take things at your own pace.

To start, place the tool flat against your face in a closed position with your nose in the centre. This is where the brow starts. Next open The Brow Buddy until it lines up with the outside corner of your iris. Make a line with the enclosed white pencil to mark the arch.

Finally, extend the prong until it lines up with the outer corner of your eye. This is where the brow should end. To shape, simply connect the lines and tweeze anything that falls outside. Voila!
Top, Original; Middle, After Brow Buddy; Bottom, Full Frisky Fronts

I went slowly and I’m delighted with the subtle results. My brows are symmetrical, and they enhance my facial features better. Crucially, they still look full and natural – and once groomed with pencil and powders they’re the full frisky fronts!

The Billion Dollar Brows Brow Buddy Kit costs £22 and can be bought at Boots here.
