January’s Empties – And Favourites

My first empties post of the year and what a modest little collection it is – I used up just nine bottles, tubes and make-up items in January. That makes it my second smallest pile of empties ever, after six products in August last year.

No prizes for guessing that facial skincare yet again represented the majority of my polished-off products last month, followed by bodycare then hair and make-up.

Skincare

Elemental Herbology Vital Cleanse.  A swoon-worthy list of ingredients including 10% manuka honey (with naturally occurring malic acid), vitamin C, organic sea buckthorn, berry oil, apple serum, green tea, grapefruit, mandarin, seaweed and papaya extract. These combine to hydrate, brighten, exfoliate, protect, balance and stimulate the skin. Full review here.

Green People Vita Min Fix 24-Hour Cream.  Another natural formulation, this time a skin-softening and plumping moisturiser with squalane from olive and jojoba esters. It also contains vitamins, minerals and antioxidants from seaweed and avocado. A lovely formula but I prefer something with a thicker texture for Winter, when my skin is especially dry. £26.50 for 50ml here.

Espa Optimal Skin ProSerum. Enriched with omega (3,6 & 9) and vitamins (A & E), as well as extracts of turmeric, white lupin and sunflower, this oil nourishes, brightens and helps to even skin tone. My skin loves it. £48 for 30ml here.

Sunday Riley Good Genes Treatment. A hugely popular serum that sadly neither my skin nor my nose (it has a strong chemical smell) can get on with. Full review here.

The Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Lip Balm. A magazine freebie from last year – thank you to my pal Sandra at Beauty Balm for pointing this one out! A rich nourishing balm infused with shea butter, pomegranate, rosehip and vitamin E to protect and restore lips. You can’t go wrong. £12 for 7ml here.

Bodycare

Balance Me Revitalising Hand and Body Lotion. Part of the Balance Me 2015 Christmas line-up, this lotion has a delightful wake-me-up, zesty unisex fragrance. It’s loaded with moisturising citrus essential oils, shea butter, organic aloe and sweet almond oil. Full review here.

Holland & Barrett Organic Aloe Vera Gel. A staple I’m never without. It’s a gorgeous cooling gel with multiple applications – use it as a cleanser or to smooth, soften and moisturise skin. It’s also very good at treating sunburn - roll on Summer (though don't sunburn!). Cheap as chips too - £6.99 for 200ml here .

Haircare

Giovanni 50:50 Balanced Hydrating-Calming Conditioner. Got this with the Naturisimo Travel Essentials Discovery Box last Summer (I’ve been switching between different conditioners, hence it's taken a rather long-time to finish it off).  Good for dry hair in need of nourishment – contains a blend of organic ingredients including aloe and sunflower seed oil. Full review here.

Make-up

Benefit Roller Lash. It’s up there with Benefit’s They’re Real Beyond Mascara for creating show-stopping lashes. It delivers a curl that’s almost comparable to the dramatic sweep you can get from a pair of eyelash curlers. Full review here.
