The Savannah Miller X Bagsy Collection – Full Range Review, Swatches, Looks + Hot Picks

Stowable make-up is something I need in my life. I don’t pack light. The size of my bag makes no odds; big or small it’s always rammed and fit to burst.

I’ve never needed much persuading over the idea of portable makeup, but concept alone is not enough – products need to perform. Eighteen months on from Bagsy launching a debut collection, its raspberry-flavoured Lip Cocoon and Pretty Cheeks dome blush remain permanent fixtures inside my handbag. I couldn’t live without either!

Now, Bagsy has launched a follow-up range, the first fruits of a three-year collaboration with the celebrated British fashion designer Savannah Miller – you can check out my recent interview with her here

The Savannah Miller X Bagsy Collection

It’s a seven-piece capsule collection of everyday makeup essentials designed to take looks from glowing day to night time glamour. The packaging is opulent and classy (inspired by Savannah’s signature prints) and there’s a city vibe to it, in contrast to the debut range which is  feminine and pretty.

While filling gaps in the original collection (a shadow palette and mascara were notable omissions), the choice of products for the new line-up was completely down to Savannah  - they’re entirely her own handbag essentials.

Products, Swatches and Looks

*TOP PICK* Pitch Black Full Volume Mascara - £18

Just one sweep makes my lashes pop! It’s a multi-tasker that thickens, lengthens, defines and separates. It has a conical shaped brush with a pointed tip that catches every lash. It also contains panthenol and vitamin E to moisturise and soften the hair.  It is, however, bulky in size - though what it lacks in portability it more than makes up for elsewhere.

Dawn to Dusk Eyeshadow Palette - £24

Five easy-to-wear shades from neutral creams, to golds and bold greys in matte, satin and shimmer finishes. The palette is slim and stows easily. It also includes a mirror and a double ended brush. I found it useful to apply the eyeshadows with a dampened brush to give greater intensity to the shades, particularly for an evening look.

*Top Pick* Glamour Tease Hair Texture Spray - £8

An all-in-one dry shampoo and texturizing spray. This is such a clever product.  It instantly transforms hair on two levels – adds volume and freshens. Simply spray where needed to boost flat hair (it holds like hairspray) and freshen-up stale locks. The smell here is fragrant too.

Vermilion Red Full Colour Lipstick - £16

Savannah’s favourite from the collection. A statement red with a modern velvety-matte finish designed to complement most skin tones, from light to dark.

Bronzed Brilliance Shimmer Powder - £20

This has got a gorgeous golden shimmer to it - perfect for adding a bit of lost radiance at this time of year. I apply to areas where the sun usually touches ie across the cheeks, forehead and chin. Go light on application – I picked up way too much product initially and got a little more bronzed than intended!

Intensifying Ink Liquid Eyeliner - £15

I’m not great at drawing steady along the lash line or doing cat flicks for that matter, but I found this a doddle to use. It has an elongated tip for easy control and a smooth action - I managed a wobble-free line using feather strokes. You can also draw both thin and thick lines. After five hours of wear I had a little smudging – a common problem thanks to my oily lids!
