Serums are becoming an increasingly important part of my skincare routine. They can be highly effective at transporting active ingredients into the skin, making them an ideal option for treating specific concerns, such as fine lines and pigmentation.
It is these types of issues that often crop up once we pass the age of 30, which was pretty much the point at which I started adding a serum into my daily skincare regime.
On the down side, good serums are often expensive because of the high level of actives in them. A decent serum that is affordable can be tricky to find. But there are some around and at £20 the Radiance Rejuvenating Peptide Serum from Nourish is one of them.
Nourish is fairly new to me. My starting point with this natural organic skincare brand was its hero product Argan Skin Renew, a luxuriously rich moisturiser (reviewed). Since giving that a whirl I’ve been keen to find out more about the brand and its products.
Nourish was founded by Pauline Hili, a former in-house product creator at Neal’s Yard Remedies, a heritage most definitely reflected in Nourish’s formulations. It offers four skincare ranges, each catering for a main skin type, ie normal (Nourish Radiance), dry (Nourish Protect), sensitive (Nourish Relax) and combination (Nourish Balance).
As well as the staple cleanse, tone and moisturise options, each range has its own serum. These are all formulated with tri-peptides and hyaluronic acid to give skin an intense nutritional boost.
The Nourish Radiance serum has a delicious and delicate rose scent (an immediate big tick in my book). It contains tonka bean and alpine foxberry to brighten and give skin luminosity. It does this very well. A few drops gave my skin an instant pick-up, a healthy glow, even on days when it was very sleep deprived!
Nourish says the serum can be used to both hydrate and prime skin. It’s difficult to pin hydration on one particular product when you’re using it (as would be the norm) in conjunction with others. But for the last two weeks that I’ve been incorporating it into my daily routine, my skin has been coping brilliantly in the Winter weather, not a bit of dryness or flakiness.
As a primer it works very well too. It has a silky texture and skin still feels smooth once absorbed, so applying make-up directly on top is easy. Although normally I would prefer to use a dedicated primer, if in a hurry or travelling, this would be a good alternative.
At £20 for 30ml this is a serum that delivers a lot for the money. You can buy it here.
