Balance Me Rose Otto Body Oil – An Affordable Luxury

Like many, one of my all-time favourite skincare ingredients is rose. Rarely do I feel more pampered than when I’m slathering oil infused with extracts of this exquisite flower all over my body.

Rose can benefit our skin in so many ways. Here are just a few examples:
- fantastic moisturiser
- natural antiseptic and astringent
- anti-inflammatory
- refines skin texture
- calms and soothes
- help heal wounds

I could go on, but I think that paints the picture. The two species most commonly used in skincare are rosa damascene, with its deep potent scent, and rosa centifola, with its lighter sweet scent.

Now, this is where things get a bit thorny (ooh, sorry, I couldn't resist a pun!). Apparently it takes tens of thousands of rose blossoms, picked as they are unfolding in the early hours of dawn, to yield one ounce of rose essential oil. That makes rose oil one of the most expensive essential oils there is.

You’ve probably guessed what I’m going to say next? Yep, decent rose body oils rarely come cheap. A 200ml bottle could easily set you back £35 or more.

But there are some more purse friendly options out there, one of which is this Balance Me Rose Otto Body Oil (rose otto is the essential oil extracted from the rose petals). Not only is it a relative snip at £24.50 for 200ml, it is also bloody gorgeous!

The body oil is from Balance Me’s multi award-winning Rose Otto collection and is designed to restore elasticity, reduce redness and leave skin supple and soft.

Apart from rose, other key ingredients include:
Abyssinian seed and wheat germ oils to smooth
Oat and meadow foam oils to calm and balance
Starflower oil to provide essential fatty acids
Arctic cloudberry to provide anti-oxidants

Balance Me is one of those brands that the more I explore, the more I like. This body oil has a super rich texture. It feels nourishing on the skin, is effortless to apply, and sinks in instantly – but without the disappearing act you don’t want; you need your oil to hang around a bit, to give skin a sustained luscious, glowy appearance and a soft suppleness that speaks ‘hydrated’. This does that. The aroma is simply gorgeous too.

I prefer to apply body oils directly after a bath, as I think the formulas soak in better. I also massage immediately after areas prone to cellulite (buttocks and tops of thighs especially) with the wooden handheld tool you can see in the main pic next to the Balance Me oil  (I have some great budget beauty tools which I really must review!). This rose otto oil preps skin brilliantly for massage, giving it some extra suppleness that will make it respond better to treatment.

Balance Me Rose Otto Body Oil is an affordable luxury that no lover of rose-based skincare should be without. You can buy it here.
