Anti-frizz products are a MUST for me in Winter. Here are my current top 3 favourites:
Alterna Haircare Bamboo Smooth Kendi Dry Oil Mist
I discovered this via the You Beauty Discovery advent calendar a few years back. It took me a while to open the bottle - the packaging isn’t particularly inspiring! But I remind myself of that old adage: never judge a book by its cover. That’s certainly true here.
Bamboo Smooth Kendi Dry Oil Mist contains organic bamboo extract to boost hair strength and flexibility. It works to repair and smooth the lipid layer, and also protects hair from future damage. You spray it liberally over damp hair, and style. It can also be used on dry hair.
This bamboo infused mist makes hair incredibly shiny and instantly smooth, giving tresses a silky texture that I can feel even as I finger dry.

Braun Satin Hair Active Ion Brush
I bought this last year. I was actually after the much lauded BaByliss Brilliant Shine Ionic Brush, but that had sold out. I saw this Braun one in Argos. It was on offer, and if memory serves me right, cost about £15, half the price of the BaByliss (note: Argos is longer selling it).
As with the BaByliss, it releases millions of active ions to form a halo around the hair as you brush it. These ions work like conditioner to tame frizz. The ions are invisible to the naked eye. The only way you know that the brush is working is by putting your ear to the back of it – you can hear a hissing sound.
It’s a regular sized brush, so small enough to pop inside your handbag. It’s my emergency tool for when I’m out and about.

Aveda Dry Remedy Moisturising Oil
My Aveda hairdresser recommended this to me last summer as a daily leave-in treatment. But I’ve found it useful to have at hand in Winter too, on two levels. One, it controls frizz. Two, it rehydrates hair, thus countering any dryness.
It is 99.9% natural and contains moisturising buriti oil. It’s safe on colour-treated hair and is also silicon free – this is important if using certain deep treatments that need to penetrate the hair shaft, such as Michael Van Clarke’s 3 Inches More, (a fantastic anti-ageing product I included in my 10 New Year Beauty Resolutions post, here).
The Aveda oil can be used daily. But be careful. It’s very rich – so easy to use too much and make hair greasy. Just a shake of the bottle to release a couple of splashes in to the palm of the hand is all that’s needed.
