3 Rose Scented Treasures

I’m fascinated by what lures us to certain scents. Is it something in the smell that takes us back to a fond memory from childhood?  Or is it just the way we are wired?

Rose is a key scent for me, though intriguingly I’m not that keen on wearing floral perfumes. Rose is simply exquisite in skincare and bodycare. I love the smell of it, all delicate and fresh. When I smother myself in rose it’s like a comfort blanket, protecting and caressing me.

I perhaps possess more rose-scented  products that any other. Here are three absolute treasures:

Roger & Gallet Precious Restoring Balm, Rose

A new launch, this body balm really is the business. It’s lusciously thick in texture, absorbs within seconds and feels very soothing and hydrating. The fragrance is sweet and light.

Smear this on after a bath, then close your eyes, breathe in through your nose and you’re walking through a rose garden on a warm sunny day. It’s not hard to imagine! This really is evocative of an English Summer. It costs £17 (200ml) and is available at M&S here.

Dr.organic Rose Otto Bath Oil

An old favourite. I have yet to find a better value rose otto bath oil. Full of fragrance, golden in colour and containing a beautiful blend of oils including rose otto, rosehip, geranium flower, clove flower, peach kernel and jojoba.

I pour this liberally (you can afford to at this price) into a hot running bath. The scent is instantly relaxing and soothing and once you step in to the bath it hydrates and nourishes every bit of your skin too.

Dr.organic Rose Otto Bath Oil costs £9.99 and is available at Holland & Barrett here.

Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater Hand Therapy

I have my 11 year-old daughter to thank for this. She bought it for me at her School’s last Secret Room. Do other schools have this? It’s a Christmas tradition where pupils choose two gifts for £2 from those donated for the purpose. They’re wrapped and given to parents by their children on Christmas Day. Quaint!

The Rosewater came as part of a hand cream trio (the others were Citron Honey & Coriander and Gardeners Hand Therapy). It’s an intensely hydrating formula providing instant relief for hands dried out by cold Winter winds. Formulated with macadamia nut oil, shea butter and rosewater. Use on cuticles and nails as well as hands.

Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater Hand Therapy costs £5 for 25g here.
