A few weeks back I was entered in to an Instagram comp by my lovely blogger pal Beauty Balm. It was during Organic Beauty Week and Lulu & Boo were giving away one of their skincare products each day on their Instagram page as part of the celebrations.
I won Wednesday’s comp! A few days later, this bottle of Lulu & Boo Rosehip & Pumpkin Multi-Action Firming Serum arrived.
A Little about Lulu & Boo Organics
It’s a brand that’s new me - and it has an interesting back story. It was founded by Claire Edmunds after she was forced to leave her career as a make-up artist due to ill health. Her skin had become extra sensitive to many products she was using. After re-evaluating her life, she started eating organic and experimenting with aromatherapy and herbal remedies. She re-trained, began mixing her own skincare blends, and before long founded Lulu & Boo Organics.
Rosehip & Pumpkin Multi-Action Firming Serum - What is it?
It’s an oil-serum, containing 96% organic ingredients designed to firm, strengthen and improve skin elasticity. It comes in a glass bottle with a dropper. Apply six drops morning and night, after cleanse and toner.
I’ve been using it twice daily, and have gone on to dub it ‘my little ray of sunshine’ - for two reasons. One, it has the same gorgeous golden colour as Autumn morning sunshine; two, it brings a happy glow to my skin.
Texture
As my skin has become drier, serums and oils have become a big part of my daily skincare regime. I use them day and night, though I will usually choose a different oil for each. At night I will apply something rich and heavy; for day I’ll opt for a lighter and quicker absorbing formula (partly to avoid a shiny face!).
While this Lulu & Boo is technically a serum, it’s oil-like in appearance and texture. I’m using it as both a serum and daytime oil. It’s very light and sinks in super quick, without leaving any residue. I thought six drops would be more than enough but it’s actually about the right amount.
Key ingredients
Rosehip – contains vitamin C antioxidants to stimulate collagen production, and vitamin A to boost moisture levels deep down (vitamin a has a small molecule size so is able to penetrate the skin).
Pumpkin – contains vitamin C and vitamin A, and additionally has natural enzymes that help to dissolve dry skin, ie it acts as an exfoliator to help improve the absorption of nutrients
Also present are camelina, sunflower, pomegranate, seabuckthorn and mandarin extracts and oils. Together these provide a variety of vitamins and omega fatty acids to help further moisturise and soothe skin.
Final Thoughts
This is a truly delightful serum/oil and at £32 for 30ml, it is good value. You can buy it here.
