Inlight Under Eye Revive – My New Obsession!

Now we’re officially into Autumn, it’s time to start thinking about switching up the skincare routine. Warm sunny days make way for cooler, rainy and often windier ones. Central heating systems get switched to auto-pilot, and before we know it our skin starts to complain!

My skin tends to lose a fair bit of its natural moisture in Autumn (let’s not get started on Winter!), and so it’s about now, at the start of the season, that I begin to add more balms into my daily skincare routine.

The latest one to join the ranks is this eye balm from Inlight, Under Eye Revive. It’s a 100% natural, 100% organic waterless formula which, aside from the moisture-retention properties of all balms, contains added ingredients to minimise puffiness and brighten the look of dark circles.

Why a Balm?

I’ve alluded to why I love balms – they lock in moisture and protect skin from the elements.  The fatty oils in them will nourish skin, though they won’t actually add any extra hydration (water), so I always layer a serum underneath for that.

I’m going to get straight to the point: this Inlight Under Eye Revive balm has become my new obsession. Oh boy! I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and the skin around my eyes has never felt and looked more nourished. It has helped to minimise the look of the fine lines notably - one of my biggest skincare bug bears!

This balm smells utterly divine (it contains fruit oils and flower extracts including bitter cherry, rosa damascena and arnica) and I confess to having a sneaky sniff just before applying it.

Other ingredients include:

gotu kola (reduces swelling)
green coffee and green tea (antioxidants to help protect skin from free radicals)
camu camu (a concentrated source of vitamin c for skin brightening)
cornflower (cooling and decongesting)

This balm is rich in texture, mellow yellow in colour, and comes in a royal blue glass pot with a sponge applicator. You apply a pearl-sized amount to the under eye area, starting from the inner corner and working outwards twice. Pat the balm in gently with a finger. Use initially twice a day, then once after about three weeks when results should start to show.

I found the sponge applicator tricky to use at first, and I did worry that it would pick-up more product than needed. So I switched to the ring finger method, only to then revert back – once you get the hang of it the sponge applicator actually allows you to be more precise with where the balm goes.

For me the big win here is nourishment. I don’t suffer from dark circles or puffiness, so I couldn’t test those claims, but this under eye balm locks in moisture brilliantly. Even hours after applying it the skin around my eyes is not the slightest bit dry. I really can’t see me switching to a once-a-day application of this – it very likely will go on my face twice daily throughout the colder months.

My only word of caution would be if you have acne-prone or sensitive skin. Then I would suggest testing any balm first, as they can be heavy and the wax component can block pores.

Inlight Under Eye Revive costs £55 for 15ml and can be bought at Naturisimo here.
