Liquid and Gel Eyeliners – Best Waterproof and Smudge-proof
I have a big problem with so-called waterproof and smudge-proof liquid and gel liners – most don’t live up to their billing.
Granted I have oily lids that seem to have something against having a cat flick drawn on them (or any look that involves heavy use of black cosmetic gel or liquid). But when I buy a liner that tells me it’s totally waterproof and smudge-proof for 24hrs (or more), I expect it to be just that, no matter how challenging my eyelids.

Avene PhysioLift Eyes – A Stand-Out
I’m not picking on Avene (loads of brands use such terms). I mention it as it was a point that cropped up during discussion at the last meeting of the 30Plus Blogs Collective, which Avene was hosting and showcasing its new PhysioLift line (story here).

NEW: Latest In Beauty Cosmeceuticals Sampler Box
With their high concentrations of active ingredients, cosmeceuticals are an increasingly popular choice for those with tricky-to-fix skincare problems such as stubborn pigmentation and fine lines.
But skincare with added oomph! doesn’t come cheap – a 30ml bottle of a cosmeceutical brand serum could easily set you back over £100. Forking out that sort of money for something you’ve never used before and you’re not sure is going to work is risky.

Four High-Tech Fitness & Beauty Gadgets to Look Out For in 2016
If you are manically into your gadgets, you will no doubt have been keeping track of all the latest health, fitness and beauty gizmos being showcased over at the CES expo in Las Vegas earlier this month.
By all accounts it was a feast for the fitness enthusiast, with the place awash with wearable gadgetry promising to help us train smarter and more stylishly than ever before. For the beauty enthusiast there were rich high-tech pickings too – just not quite so much of it.

Why Microbeads Are Being Banned From US Beauty Products - [UK Update 15/04/16]
I’ve just had a look through my skincare to see if I have products containing microbeads. I’m pretty sure that I’ve used face and body washes containing these tiny plastic exfoliating balls at some point. But I couldn’t find any in my current stash. That's just as well!…

Face Up Fitness: Barrecore and Why Variety Will Be the Spice of Life in 2016
If you’ve made any New Year resolutions, chances are health
and fitness will feature amongst them.
Fitness. It’s a tricky one. New gym memberships soar in
January, but from the end of February half will go dormant (Ok that’s a cliché but
there’s truth behind it). Why the drop-off?
Perhaps we aren’t seeing the results we’d hoped for, or get bored doing the same thing week in and out. Whatever the reason, mixing things
up might help. Adding some variety keeps things fresh and we
may just hit upon a form of exercise that works better for us than the one
originally chosen.
