July’s Empties – And Favourites

It's a bumper crop of personal skincare heroes in my latest empties pile. Bodycare also gets a decent look in but makeup is nowhere to be seen!

Skincare

Skincare once again represents the biggest portion of my throw outs, with seven bottles and tubes used up in July. All but two have earned a place in my ‘favourites’ hall of fame – a record!

Avene Thermal Moisture Mask. A product I buy on repeat. Whenever my skin is need of a moisture fix or is feeling tight, this sorts it out. £11.50 for 50ml here.

Holland & Barrett Aloe Vera Gel. This also features frequently in my empties. Fantastic for irritated skin. Fantastic as an aftersun. Fantastic as a general purpose moisturiser/cleanser – I use it for cleansing in conjunction with my Sqoom ultrasound device. £7.49 for 200ml here.

Balance Me Restore and Replenish Cream Cleanser. Superb price for a superb cleanser. It swiftly and gently gets to grips with my ‘virtually impossible to remove’ liquid liners. Reviewed here.

Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser. What is left to say about Eve Lom cleansers that hasn’t already been said? The only reason this is not in my ‘favourites’ pile is because it’s quite pricey and I do prefer the cult balm formula. £40 for 125ml here.

Inlight Under Eye Revive. Love, love, love. Soothing and hydrating, and smells delicious (it’s organic). It remains one of my skincare obsessions! Reviewed here.

Estelle & Thild Super Bioactive Repairing Oil Complex. My first try of this organic Swedish brand (I reviewed their Super Bioactive eye and face serums at the same time). Of the three this is my favourite and a product I’ll definitely go on to buy. Reviewed here.

Burt’s Bees Soap Bark & Chamomile, Deep Cleansing Cream. This was such a disappointment. I didn’t like the tingling feeling on my face and it stings if you accidentally get some in your eyes (which I did when trying it for removing eye makeup – something I usually do with cleansers). £11.49 for 170g here.

Bodycare

Inlight Organic Body Oil with Arnica, Inlight Organic Firm and Tone Oil. A second appearance for this British organic skincare brand, this time with body oils - and both are ideal for prepping skin for Summer. Reviewed here.

Susanne Kaufmann Arnica Oil. Another organic body oil with arnica. I love this too (arnica is healing and so great to use on post-workout skin) but it’s more expensive ml for ml than the Inlight product. Reviewed here.

L’Occitane Verbena Shower Gel. A personal thing here but I really don’t like the Verbena scent. Because of that I don’t ever buy this particular shower gel – but I always seem to get gifted one with a L’Occitane offer.

Bamford Geranium Lavender Peppermint, Hand and Body Wash. Another organic brand first for me, and if this is anything to go by, it makes sumptuous formulations with delicious aromas. This hand wash seems to be out of stock but is usually available for £22 (250ml) here.

Haircare

Batiste Dry Shampoo, Coconut & Exotic Tropical. Oh yes, it’s here again, Batiste dry shampoo. Another small 30g can used up – I’ve since upgraded to the bigger cans for home use! Reviewed here.

Swell Ultimate Volume Masque. Since my old LA Fitness gym closed, reopening as Pure Gym sans swimming pool and sauna (boohoo), I no longer use a hair mask (I used to apply while in the sauna). This mask though has a relatively quick application time, so I pop on between shampoo and conditioner while having a shower. Reviewed here.

Mark Hill. Get Gorgeous! Work It Girl! A multitasker – use it to add shine, control and heat protection. It’s a bit sticky, so not something I’ll be buying again. £6.95 for 125ml here.
