Aromatherapy Associates Oils – Do You Have A Favourite?

Small and mighty is how I describe my Aromatherapy Associates Bath and Shower Oil collection. These miniature bottles may stand just 45mm tall but, boy, do they pack some power inside them. Add a few drops to a running bath and suddenly it’s not only your bathroom that’s infused with the most wondrous aroma but the rest of your home too. These oil blends really can travel.

Not only do these oils smell good, they are therapeutic too. Whether you’re craving a physical, emotional or mental pick-up, there’s a blend for it. The three below are my bathtime favourites. What’s yours?

Lavender and Peppermint:

Lavender occupies a very sweet spot in my heart. Thirteen years ago following the birth of my son after a difficult labour, my midwife told me to add a few drops of pure lavender oil to my bath water as it would help me to relax. It did. Now, whenever I smell a hint of this oil, it transports me back to those magical days as a new mum.

Like music, aromas have the ability to make you nostalgic for things in the past. I guess the lavender is why I love this blend so much but I don’t want to downplay the peppermint as it does add a fresh twist.

Revive Evening

The staying power of Revive Evening really is something else, or at least it seems that way. I bathed with this the other night and two hours later, as my husband was walking up the stairs, he said ‘that smells nice, what is it?’

The fragrance, which contains geranium, ylang ylang, patchouli and sandalwood, was still lingering in the air. Of course, it is possible that I had been a tad over zealous with my pouring and tipped in a bit too much, making the scent more potent than normal. But these drops are precious and I do tend to be very careful. Actually, I don’t really care which theory is the right one, I am just delighted that my bathtime beauty choice had got such a ringing endorsement from hubby.

Inner Strength:

Blending clary sage, frankincense and cardamom, this formula was created by co-founder Geraldine Howard during a low ebb whilst being treated for cancer (10% of all proceeds of this bath and shower oil go to the charity Defence Against Cancer Foundation). It is very uplifting and calming, a great scent for relieving anxieties and relaxing the muscles. The frankincense, meanwhile, gives this oil blend a spicy sweet fragrance.

Aromatherapy Associates bath and shower oils can be bought here priced at £40 for 55ml.
