At a time when a lot of us are feeling the pinch financially, beauty brands are putting out new product after new product. Life sometimes is so unfair! I am completely spent out after Christmas but I’ve been so tempted by stuff that’s launched over the past 2 weeks that I’ve begun compiling a ‘most wanted’ list, poised ready for when I’ve saved up enough money!
My pick of the week’s launches could have featured twice the number of products than it actually does. But in the interest of brevity I’ve kept it down to a mix of five new make-up, skincare and haircare products.
Urban Decay – Spring 2015 Collection
The new Urban Decay Spring 2015 products are arriving here from 29 January, it seems. If you want to check the collection out brand founder Wende Zomnir showcases it here.
Briefly, the line-up includes Mascara Resurrection (£10), a brush-on lash serum and 5 new Moondust eyeshadows (£14.50 each). There’s also Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation (£26), an oil-free wet/dry powder foundation; Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer, a buildable formula available in 6 shades (£17.50 each); and 10 new high-shine finish Sheer Revolution Lipsticks (£15.50 each).
New Haircare Range Made from Recycled Coffee at Harvey Nichols
Caffeine is a fairly common ingredient in skincare – it can reduce redness and inflammation, amongst other things. Nevertheless, I was totally struck by O’right’s Recoffee, a new haircare range made from 100% recycled coffee grounds, available from Harvey Nichols later this month.
The coffee is collected from cafes and convenience stores across Taiwan, and each haircare bottle contains grounds from 16 cups! The caffeine content is said to stimulate the hair shaft and help it grow faster by blocking the effects of DHT, a chemical known to damage hair follicles.
Now, if that doesn’t want to make you rush out to Harvey Nichols and buy a bottle, this might – each 250ml Recoffee shampoo bottle is said to grow into a coffee plant when buried in soil, due to the biodegradable nature of the packaging and the coffee seeds built into the base! More on Recoffee here. The range is priced £17.25 to £39.50.
Green People Age Defy+ Tinted DD Moisturiser SPF15 – 27 January
If you like your beauty to be organic, Green People has just unveiled Age Defy+ Tinted DD Moisturiser SPF15. Priced £34.95 for 30ml, the cream contains sea fennel extract, known for brightening and skin-renewing. It offers a sheer coverage, has colour correcting natural earth minerals, and will be available in light and medium shades. More on Green People here.
MUFE UK launches at Debenhams
Rumours that Paris-based make-up brand MUFE is set to launch in the UK were finally confirmed this week – news that will be met with shrieks of delight by beauty buffs up and down the country. Created by Dany Sanz in 1984, MUFE has its roots in pro make-up (think movie sets and fashion shoots) and is revered for its unique hues and finishes.
Until now it’s been a case of sourcing MUFE from overseas stores that ship to the UK like Sephora. But come Spring (end of March is rumoured), MUFE will launch in Debenhams and online at debenhams.com. More on MUFE here.
