4 Bright and Breezy Beauty Launches to Kick-off Summer

Whatever happened to ‘flaming June’? Perhaps by the time of posting the sun will be shining but from where I’m sat right now (in the Kent countryside on the meteorological first day of Summer) it’s chucking it down with rain outside!

So, Summer is finally upon us and so too are the Summer beauty collections. Here is my pick of recent unveils:

Burberry Shimmer Dust – Out August

Glitter tears have been a massive trend on Instagram this year. I can’t say it’s one that I aspire to follow but I do think a bit of shimmer strategically placed on the face or body can look strikingly beautiful, no matter what age you are. Burberry’s new Shimmer Dust, available from August, looks stunning and features in the brand’s latest ad campaign with Edie Campbell. It will be available in holographic gold and silver, priced at £20. More here.

Bourjois Paris Tropical Festival Summer Look – out 8 June

Bright and exotic pretty much sums up the feel of the Bourjois Paris Tropical Festival Summer Look. The new collection (I can see it going down a storm with those heading to Ibiza and other clubbing resorts) includes waterproof eye pencils in turquoise blue, matte denim blue and vibrant khaki. There’s also a coral lip pencil, plus fuchsia and khaki nail polishes. Prices start at £4.99 for the eye pencils. More here.

BareMinerals Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo – Out July

I’ve always worn a powder over my foundation. Not only does it set my base but it also gives a smoother, more finished look to my make-up. One of my most treasured setting powders is the By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Powder, but I’ve always liked BareMinerals bases and this new Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo has really caught my eye, not least because of the rave reviews it’s had from US bloggers (Hourglass highlighter dupe?). There’s Matte, an oil-absorbing powder for use over foundations (or wear alone) and Glow, for highlighting and strobing. Priced at £28. More here.

John Masters Organics spicy hand washes and hand creams – out now

You’ll often find a Baylis + Harding hand wash and hand cream duo in our shower room. The packaging is a dead ringer for Molton Brown, and the formulas are not half bad for the price. But there’s no denying that if I had the money I’d stock my bathrooms with high-end products all day long. Which brings me on to John Masters Organics and its new range of zesty hand washes and hand creams. Scents include orange & rose, lime & spruce, and lemon & ginger - all wake-me-up fresh and zingy sounding. Prices start at £14 for the hand washes. More here.
